"Engineer / Specialist in Humanities / International Serviced" visa
"Engineer / Specialist in Humanities / International Serviced" visa is categorized in Tier II of Group I defined in Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act ("ICRRA", hereafter).
I. Granted Activities
activities of business under contracts with public or private institutions, which requires technology or knowledge on physics, engineering science, any other natural science, juris prudence, economics, sociology or any other social / human science, or which requires idea or sensitivity based on different culture other than Japan, other than activities of "Professor", "Artist", "Journalist", "Business Manager", "Legal / Accounting", "Medical Care", "Researcher" or "Instructor"
II. Granted Period of Stay
5 years, 3 years, 1 year or 3 months
III. Conditions to be Permitted
A. Applied activities are not false.
B. Applied activities coincide with activities defined for each visa in ICRRA.
It is also required to meet the followings, or so called " Criteria of Permits for Landing" as "Medical Care" is categorized in Tier II of Group I:
A. The applicant should correspond to one of the following, provided that this shall be excluded, if the applicant is willing to be engaged in business of an agent of international arbitrational cases:
a) If the applicant is willing to be engaged in the business which requires skills or knowledge in the fields of natural science, social science or humanities, the applicant should correspond to one of the below and also should have learned the required skills or knowledge, provide that this shall be excluded, if the applicant is willing to be engaged in the business which requires skills or knowledge on information processing and also have passed the designated examination on information processing technology by a notice of the minister of justice or have obtained the designated license on information processing technology by a notice of the minister of justice:
1. The applicant should have majored the subjects related to the required skills or knowledge and have graduated a university or a college, or have had the same grade education or more, as a university or a college.
2. The applicant should have majored the subjects related to the required skills or knowledge and have completed a special course in a miscellaneous school in Japan, provide that the applicant should have completed the special course in accordance with the requirement defined by a notice of the minister of justice.
3. The applicant should have experienced the business for ten years or more, including terms majoring the subjects related to the required skills or knowledge in a university, a college, a technical college, a senior high school, a later course of a secondary school or a special course of a miscellaneous school.
b) If the applicant is willing to be engaged in the business which requires thoughts or sensibility based on foreign cultures, the applicant should correspond to each of the below:
1. The applicant is willing to the business of translation, interpretation, instruction of languages, public relation, advertisement, overseas transaction, design of dressing or interior, product development or other similar business to overseas transaction , design of dressing or interior, product development.
2. The applicant should have had business experiences related to the business to be engaged in, for more than three years or more, provide that this shall be excluded, if the applicant graduated a university or a college and is willing to be engaged in translation, interpretation or instruction of languages.
c) The applicant should receive the same wages or more as a Japanese can receive.
IV. Documents Required to Apply for a Certificate of Eligibility or Change of Visa
A. a certificate of registration of the accepting institution and a copy of income statements of the institution
B. a material which clarifies the contents of the business of the accepting institution
C. a certificate of a degree or a document which certifies terms of studying the subject concerned with the activities, and a document which certifies the
career
D. a document which certifies the contents, terms, the position and wages of the activities
V. Documents Required to Apply for Extension of Visa
A. a document which certifies the contents, terms and the position of the activities
B. a certificate of annual incomes and paid taxes
